Humberto's - Day One

Where We Went:
     Humbertos

What We Got:
Carne Asada Burrito with rice & bean - $5.80
-Size: 6.5 (Scale from 1 to 10) | Meat: Good | Tortilla: Good | Good pico.
    California Burrito - $4.80
-Size: 6.5 (Scale from 1 to 10) | Meat: Good | Tortilla: Good but a little odd, not sure why. Kind of had a corn smell maybe? | Very even distribution of ingredients.
     Hot Sauce (Red)
          -Mild, not much flavor.
     Hot Sauce (Green)
          -Thick, rather tasty.

The Visit:
Purchased lunch at Humberto's like we had planned a while back.  Space was limited (hardcore) so we ended up ordering our meal to go.  When ordering we were able to examine the menu from outside of the store.  The outside walls were basically made up of windows which helped remove feelings of claustrophobia.  The employees were friendly and our meal didn't take long at all getting to us.
The carne asada burrito with beans and rice was a great deal (special #5) so we couldn't pass trying it.  The burrito was good overall.  Nice job on the pico and guac mix.  The beans and rice were pretty standard.  The california burrito was unique.  It was welly constructed making for a very neat eat (there was no spillage).  Every bite had an even mix of ingredients which made it a rarely consistent burrito.  A tad undersized for the price.

Our suggestions & comments:  When visiting don't get discouraged by the crowd or black steel cage around the counter.  Its worth a visit if you're close by.  A shining example of a hole in the wall taco shop.

Los Reyes - Day One

Where We Went:
     Los Reyes

What We Got:
     Carne Asada Burrito - $4.49
-Size: 8 (Scale from 1 to 10) | Meat: Alright | Tortilla: Good | Very Wet and Messy
     Horchata (Large) - $1.99
-Consistency: Mildly Chalky | Cinnamon: Faint
     Hot Sauce (Red)
-Enjoyably Spicy | A Little on the Tomatoey Side

The Visit:
Located just up the hill from downtown, Los Reyes is one of many taco shops in the area.  As far as taco shops go it is pretty standard but has a more open feeling, that is, it probably seats about 40 and you can see the cooks and grills in the back.  One unique thing, it kinda has a deli.  The menu has a good selection of seafood, a breakfast menu, and even promotes a few fruit smoothies.  Even with it being located on the bus line it never feels overwhelmingly crowded.

For lunch today we had planned on reviewing Humberto's which is conveniently located right across the street.  After seeing the lunch crowd there we decided we would just go across the street.  Our order only took about 10 minutes even with a small line in front of us.  The Horchata was a good size for the price.  The  cinnamon left something to be desired and it was faintly chalky.  The Carne Asada burrito that we received was fairly large.  The meat was alright, but it was overwhelmed by an unusual amount of fresh pico de gallo poured into the burrito.  At one point the there was a solid stream pouring out of the bottom of the burrito. Delicious overall, but it proved to make quite a mess.

Our suggestions & comments:  Easy on the Pico, Ask for Napkins [Oddly enough they seem to keep the napkins behind the counter... kinda weird]
